A cleaning expert has shared a simple hack that can help you banish grease stains from your clothes.
Laura de Barra, an Irish author and property portfolio developer, has sworn by one household product to get rid of tough stains.
Laura’s first book ‘Gaff Goddess’ was a number one bestseller, focusing on simple hints and tips to help you spruce up your home. She also had her own home-hack column.
In a recent video, Laura focused on how you can remove stubborn grease stains from your clothing, no matter how dark or light the colour is.
She swears by one household item – washing up liquid. Laura captioned her TikTok video: “Get rid of grease stains for good! This is an easy stain removal tip using a cheap and easy to find product.”
In her video, Laura showed off a grease stain on a navy jumper. She explained: “This works even if you’ve washed the garment already. So all you wanna do: some regular washing up liquid, and then you just want to rub it into the stain. Then you’ll wash as normal.”
Laura added: “If the stain’s been on there a long time, you may need to do this twice, but it will come out. Also, air dry, don’t use heat as some food grease stains may have dye in them.”
Laura’s video has been viewed over a massive 1.9 million times, racking up 52,300 likes and 463 comments. Some people even suggested their own tips. Simon May wrote: “Swarfega (hand cleanser) is by far the best thing for removing grease and oil from clothes, much better than washing up liquid.”
