Tata Motors has proudly rolled out over 6 lakh units of the Punch in under four years—a remarkable feat for a car launched in October 2021.
In this short span, the Punch has gone from being a newcomer to becoming the highest-selling car in India in 2024.
Why Is Tata Punch So Popular?
The Punch was designed to bring the SUV experience to every Indian household—and it has delivered on that promise. Whether you’re in a metro city or a small town, this compact SUV fits right in. With its bold looks, rugged build, and city-friendly size, it’s ideal for first-time car buyers and growing families alike.
- Nearly 70 percent of Punch ICE owners are first-time buyers.
- 25 percent of Punch.ev buyers are women—drawn to its safety, high driving position, and smart design.
- From Tier 1 to Tier 3 cities, its appeal is widespread: 24 percent buyers are from metros, 42 percent from mid-size cities, and 34 percent from smaller towns.
Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., said, “Crossing the 6 lakh milestone is more than a production achievement; it’s a reflection of the immense trust that over 6 lakh Indians have placed in a vehicle that represents confidence, presence, and a fresh start to their journeys.”
What Makes It Stand Out?
As India’s first sub-compact SUV, it brought the SUV life to a much wider audience. Here’s what makes it stand out:
- 5-star safety rating for both ICE and EV (Global & Bharat NCAP)
- Available in Petrol, CNG, and EV
- 36 percent of Tata’s passenger car sales come from the Punch
