Patna Metro Rail to Begin Operations in 2025; Check Stations, Route Details

Urban Development Minister Nitin Naveen has directed expedited efforts to ensure the timely completion of the remaining infrastructure, anticipating a launch by 2025.

The residents of Patna (Bihar) can soon rejoice as the city gears up to launch its first metro service next year. The inaugural route, spanning from Bairia Bus Terminal to Malahi Pakadi, will cover a distance of 6.4 kilometers on an elevated track, easing commuting woes for thousands of residents. The construction of stations along this corridor is currently underway, with significant progress reported on the pillar installations. Urban Development Minister Nitin Naveen has directed expedited efforts to ensure the timely completion of the remaining infrastructure, anticipating a launch by 2025.

Key Highlights:

Route and Stations: The first operational stretch of the Patna Metro, known as Corridor Two, will encompass five elevated stations: Patliputra Bus Terminal, Zero Mile, Bhootnath, Khemnichak, and Malahi Pakadi. Spanning a total of 6.63 kilometers, this segment will facilitate seamless connectivity for commuters.

Project Overview: Under the comprehensive Patna Metro Project, which comprises two corridors, a total of 24 stations are being developed. These include 12 underground and 12 elevated stations, strategically located to enhance urban mobility across the city.

Corridor Details: Corridor 1 spans 17.93 kilometers, with 7.39 kilometers elevated and 10.54 kilometers underground. Corridor 2, the focus of initial operations, covers 14.55 kilometers, including 6.63 kilometers elevated and 7.92 kilometers underground.

The introduction of the Patna Metro marks a significant milestone in the city’s infrastructure development, promising faster, more efficient travel options for its growing population. With construction progressing steadily, the metro network is poised to transform urban transportation in Patna for years to come.
