‘I know body language – sign shows when someone hates you’

A body language expert has revealed the one telltale sign that could indicate whether a person dislikes you, or doesn’t trust what you’re saying. And if you do it yourself, it could show that you don’t believe in yourself.

Most of us think that we can hide our emotions pretty easily — perhaps telling a white lie to protect ourselves or someone’s feelings. However, there are subtle indicators that could give you or so someone else away.

Sharing her wisdom on TikTok, Adrianne Carter, a body language expert known as ‘The Face Whisperer’, explained all to her 512,000 followers. She asked, “Do you know what this means?” before rubbing her nose with one hand as if trying to dislodge something.

She went on: “It’s the nose pulling or rubbing of the nose and that can often mean someone doesn’t like what they’re hearing or they potentially disagree with what’s being said or what they’re hearing.”

Flipping it around, Adrianne also revealed what it could mean if someone does it while they’re talking. She continued: “It could mean that they don’t like or agree with what they’ve just said themselves or don’t fully have confidence and aren’t feeling the words. So it’s often a sign of dislike or ‘I’m rejecting what I’m hearing from you’.”

People watching the video were intrigued but others were unconvinced instead offering alternatives of what it could mean. One user wrote: “Mine simply means ‘my nose itches’.” While someone else added: “No it’s a nervous thing for me when I’m feeling anti-social at work thanks though!”

However, one person agreed, adding: “Lol, my brother rubs his nose when he’s lying about something. He doesn’t realise he does this and it’s how I catch him in a lie.” And a second user wrote: “Agreed. I do this when people talk all the time.”

And a third user wrote: “I start doing this when I don’t want to be talking to the person.” And it’s not just nose-pulling that could indicate someone is lying or unhappy with what’s being said.

Scott Taylor, 51, a former security expert with 30 years experience has revealed the three tell-tale signs someone might be lying to you.

Having worked in security for decades he has a unique eye for shifty body language, after training in “facial micro-expressions, deception detection, influential behaviours, and statement and word analysis”. Being able to spot a lie from a mile off led to him working for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and also saw him working as the lead interrogator at Guantanamo Bay.

According to Taylor, a combination of signs can be indicative of a false statement or lie, including rapid eye motions and blinking, lip licking and hard swallowing, and forced language.
