This ancient Peshwa-era temple showcases Bappa in a rare Trishund avatar, bearing three trunks. According to devotees, each trunk of Lord Ganesha carries deep symbolism.
Some believe the trunks represent the divine forms of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh, seated majestically on a peacock instead of his usual mouse. Others say the three trunks represent time – past, present, and future – and control over creation, preservation, and destruction.

The temple was built between 1754 and 1770 under the guidance of Morya Gosavi from Dhampur. He established the temple called Mayureshwar Ashtavinayak, which got aid from the Great Peshwas. Since Ganesha was the KulDaivat of the Peshwas, they worked hard to revive and flourish all Ganesha temples in Maharashtra, including Mayureshwar.
This temple is considered so important that people start their Ashtavinayak Yatra from this place. They are also supposed to come back to this temple at the end.

– By Rail: Get down at the Jejuri Railway Station and then take an auto/taxi to Somwar Peth, Mayureshwar Temple. The temple is approximately 10 minutes away from the station.
– By Air: For devotees planning to visit this temple by flight, you can go to Pune International Airport and take a direct flight to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai. From there, you can take local transport to reach Somwar Peth.
Trishund Mayureshwar Ganpati Temple Timings
Mayureshwar Temple is open 365 days a year, from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM. The morning hours for darshan are 5:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Devotees can take Darshan in the evening between 3:00 PM and 10:00 PM.
