Dark City premiered in 1998, and it quickly became a cult classic sci-fi film. Along with earning a Hugo Award nomination for Best Dramatic Presentation, it’s said to have influenced The Matrix, which released a year later. The tech noir movie is now getting a long-awaited 4K release, with the Dark City 4K Limited Edition arriving on June 24. Preorders are now open at Amazon, and since it’s currently ranked as the best-selling sci-fi film at Amazon, consider reserving a copy before this Limited Edition sells out.
$60 | Releases June 24
This collection gets you a 4K version of both the director’s cut and theatrical cut of the film. It also supports HDR for more vibrant colors and Dolby Atmos for enhanced sound quality. As a bonus, you’ll get the following:
- Collector’s Book (60 pages)
- Limited edition packaging
- Double-sided poster
- Three postcard-sized reproduction art cards
- Postcard from Shell Beach
- Dr. Schreber business card
That’s a pretty solid list of additional goodies, and it’s bound to appeal to long-time fans of the cult-classic. The current price of $60 is a bit high, though there’s a strong possibility it’ll drop between now and release. Preordering at Amazon means you won’t pay until the item ships, and you’ll be eligible for any discounts that occur after you place your preorder.
