Rani Kamlapati Railway Station (formerly Habibganj) in Bhopal has become a shining example of how Indian Railways is transforming to offer world-class experiences.
Redeveloped under the Narendra Modi government’s ambitious plan to modernise railway infrastructure, this station is the first in India to be operated under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
The station is operated and maintained by the Bansal Group, in collaboration with the Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation (IRSDC), but remains owned by Indian Railways. This ensures better services without handing over control.
When Was It Redeveloped?
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the revamped station on 15 November 2021. Along with its stunning makeover, it was renamed in honour of Gond queen Rani Kamlapati — with a new station code RKMP replacing the old HBJ.
