Skoda Auto has officially produced over 500,000 cars in India, a landmark achievement that underlines the brand’s growing footprint and long-term commitment to Indian manufacturing.
The milestone comes as the company celebrates 25 years in the country and 130 years globally.
From Octavia to Kylaq
Since the first Octavia rolled off the line at the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (formerly Aurangabad) plant in 2001, Skoda has introduced a range of beloved models in India. From classics like the Octavia, Superb and Laura, to modern favourites like the Kushaq, Slavia and the latest compact SUV Kylaq, the brand has continuously adapted to Indian preferences while keeping quality and safety at the core.
India’s Role in Global Strategy
Skoda’s production in India is not limited to local sales. The company is now exporting parts and components to its newly launched manufacturing plant in Vietnam. Models like the Kushaq and Slavia will be assembled there, strengthening India’s role as a key export and manufacturing hub in Skoda’s global expansion plans. This supports the Indian government’s ‘Make in India’ vision for both domestic and international markets.
What the Leaders Say
Andreas Dick, Board Member for Production & Logistics at Skoda Auto, called this milestone “Reaching the milestone of 500,000 cars produced in India is a proud testament to our strategic vision of unwavering commitment to India and operational excellence.”
Piyush Arora, CEO of Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, added, “It is not just about manufacturing 500,000 cars, but building and nurturing 500,000 connections. Every car that rolls out of our production lines, shares DNA of European engineering with unmatched quality, crafted with precision; delivering supreme comfort, safety, technology and driving dynamics.”
Skoda crossed this milestone with the help of its Pune and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar plants, where 70 percent of the production happens in Pune. The brand also hit its highest-ever monthly sales in March 2025, delivering 7,422 units.
As Skoda celebrates 130 years globally and 25 years in India, this achievement marks a proud moment in its continuing journey.
