If you’re shopping for someone who loves puzzles this holiday, Amazon has some great deals on an all-time classic: the Rubik’s Cube. More specifically, Amazon is offering big discounts on Smart Cubes, including a $35 discount on the GoCube Edge, the most popular Smart Cube–click the $10 coupon box to get the full discount. These Bluetooth-enabled cubes sync with mobile apps for iOS and Android and teach you how to solve the classic 3×3 puzzle cube. We’ve tried Smart Cubes and can confirm they work. Finally solving the cube is the initial draw here, but some of these cool gadgets have a bunch of additional content like minigames, online multiplayer, and leaderboards. Plus, they can track your moves to help you solve the cube faster.
We’ve tried all of the brands listed below, and all three can indeed teach you how to solve the Rubik’s Cube. Our top pick is the GoCube Edge because of its advanced app that’s loaded with fun and useful features. You can learn more about three Smart Cubes below.
Cubers who also like superheroes should check out the officially licensed Marvel and DC Rubik’s Cubes at the bottom of this story. Each cube doubles as a collectible figure to display and is on sale for $10.49 or less.

The GoCube Edge helps you solve a traditional 3×3 cube. This Bluetooth-enabled, stickerless model is a speedcube, which means it turns quick, but magnets help you maintain control. Each turn creates a satisfying little click, too. The GoCube also comes with a charging stand and a nice carrying pouch.
After syncing it to the official GoCube app, you can go through a variety of lessons that will teach you algorithms (turning sequences) and walk you through the process of solving the cube step by step. The GoCube Edge has real-time tracking, so your turns are reflected on screen. After you solve the cube, you can review your moves to learn where you can improve.
It also has online multiplayer, so you can compete against friends who also own a GoCube or be matched up with players from around the world to compete for the fastest solve time. It also has minigames and puzzles that can be played solo or online. These puzzles are suited for beginners and those who have no problem solving the cube on their own. These features are what makes the GoCube Edge such a cool Smart Cube. The app adds versatility to the traditional 3×3 cube.
If you’re accustomed to the well-defined edges of a traditional Rubik’s Cube, you might find the rounded edges of this GoCube to be a bit strange–but that’s a minor drawback of an otherwise well-rounded, premium device.
Be sure to clip your $10 off coupon to get the full discount. And if you’re interested in 2×2 cubes, the GoCube 2×2 is just $40 (was $52). It offers most of the same features, just in the smaller format. If you’re buying the GoCube for a kid, it’s worth noting that 2×2 cubes are much easier to solve than 3×3 cubes. They are great for beginners in general.

The Rubik’s Cube Connected X is the traditional cube with stickers, just with smart functionality built-in. This cube and the GoCube were actually both created by Particula, a manufacturer that specializes in smart games and connected toys. For that reason, Rubik’s Cube Connected X has many of the same features as the GoCube.
That said, Rubik’s Cube Connected X comes with a regular cube without magnets or any of the speed-focused technology, so it definitely feels cheaper and doesn’t turn as smoothly.
In terms of its smart functionality, Rubik’s Connected has all of the features you need to learn how to solve the cube. It tracks all of your moves, offers tips and can correct your mistakes as they’re made. Rubik’s Connected also has minigames, online leaderboards, and multiplayer.

Gan is one of the most popular brands for speedcubers, and now you can add one to your collection (or gift one to a friend) for cheap. The Gan 356 i Carry is the cheapest option at just $21 (was $30), providing in-app video tutorials, step-by-step solving instruction, and a replaceable battery with nearly 300 hours of playtime. You can upgrade to the iCarry 2 to get 700 hours of battery life.
If we had to pick the best cube on this list without consideration for the smart features, these Gan cubes would be our pick. Unfortunately, the app these connect to is not nearly as feature-rich or as helpful for beginners. If you already know how to solve the 3×3 Rubik’s Cube and are more interested in the smart features to record your solves and get better independently, any of these would be great choices.
Want a Rubik’s Cube that’s more stylish than practical? Amazon has several models inspired by DC and Marvel superheroes. Once you’ve solved the puzzle, the cube can be placed on the character’s body and propped up on a stand–which makes for a fun desk ornament or toy. Here’s a look at all of the characters you can get.
